The Best Books for 5th Graders
While 5th Graders can quickly become obsessed with the World of Harry Potter, there are many other wonderful authors to include on your child’s 5th Grade Book List. The Secret Garden by Frances Burnett has been a page-turner since its publication over 100 years ago. This is the story of two youngsters who secretly try to bring a mysterious garden back to life. Filled with suspense and imagination, the story also has a rather impressive moral.
We all know fifth grade boys can be our more difficult readers. The new series Just Jake is a perfect solution to get your son excited about reading. The book was actually written by a 13 year old boy and made the New York Times Bestsellers list. It’s a graphic novel that illustration and hilarious school setting story will get any reluctant reader excited about turning pages instead of playing video games.
If your child is struggling with math class, one of the best books for 5th Graders facing this dilemma is Sir Cumference and the First Round Table: A Math Adventure by Cindy Neuschwander. This imaginative story plays on the old tale of Sir Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, but Sir Cumference can’t decide which shape his table should be. It’s very entertaining while also creatively educational. But don’t worry. Your child will never know that he is actually learning something. It’s such an incredible read.
